Both Macodes and Ludisia do well in a terrarium, don't worry about the rot. Evenly moist, high humidity. For me, Macodes does not do as well as Ludisia outside of a terrarium, but I haven't been playing with Macodes petiola as long. I have seen very nice specimens of macodes grown under lights, so I know it works. I did just get a couple hundred, so perhaps I'll get that figured out! *grin* Ludisia discolor will get quite big in a vining sort of way, makes a great hanging basket.
