Phaius tankervilleae flower pics

Here's a couple of pics of Phaius tankervilleae from a local botanical garden. First flower to open. Enjoy. My tankervillea is in spike but the flowers not yet open. I will get pics of that when the flowers open as well.

Mine looks brownish in comparison.
I am curious; is it the Australian variety of the species,or an improved,selected clone?

yes it is a very nice flower. I'm also surprised my camera could take such a nice photo. Its not a very good camera but seems to take decent photos when the conditions are right. I've got a Phaius australis in bud at present also. I will put some pics up of that as well shortly.

Judging by the flower i doubt its an australian variety but i could be wrong. There is alot of confusion about australian phaius now and many foreign varieties are being sold as australian ones to. Australian phaius tend to have a darker red background colour rather than brown. I will get a pic of my Phaius australis when the flowers open.

Mine is still a baby. Now that I see your lovely chid I just can't wait for mine to grow and flower.
