Default Sobralia sessilis

Interesting Sobralia species. It was a doubtful species for Brazil until recently, but its occurrence was confirmed; it has been found widely spread in the Brazilian Central Plateau.

It's a big plant, Shams. Mine is around 3 feet tall (more or less 1 meter) and it gets taller than this.

It is a pretty species. The plant is also beautiful and resembles a lily found in East Asia.

That's just too cute!
What kind of care does it take?

Thanks for sharing, Mauro

It is a terrestrial, Susanne, in the same sense Zygopetalum is, so mine is planted in tree fern fiber. It loves bright light or even direct sunlight. Intermediate to hot temperatures are very appreciated and large pot for the numerous roots. Plenty of water during mid-spring through mid-fall, when it blooms, slowing down after the flower period. If you need anything else, please just let me know.

Very nice. I love sobralias but they are a bit of a rarity here in australia. Basically no body grows them. If you ever have any spare seed i'd be happy to trade for some interesting australian natives seed thanks for sharing
