Default Diplocaulobium aratriferum

Good Morning. These are my 3 Diplocaulobium aratriferums, mounted on half pieces of Cholla tubes. I was surprised to see blooms this early, as the plants arrived in the mail around the first of August. They reside in a high humidity terrarium, and are dunked in a weak fertilizer solution (50-60 PPM) daily.

PS Sorry about the second photo being out of proper rotation. It would be nice if the photos could be managed (rotated) in the Edit mode.

I love the species. I get the occasional flower fairly frequently, a flush bloom 2-3 times a year. Only downside, the flowers last only a matter of hours. So that's just inspiration to look at the plant every day Or you might miss the show. Flowers turn pink as they fade.

Another interesting behavior of this species... multiple plants seem to bloom at the same time. This requires rather precise blooming since the flowers are so short-lived, they're hitting a target down to the hour. I have a friend who lives about 30 miles (48 km) from me, for whom his plants and mine often bloom on exactly the same day. Not 100% of the time... we have looked for patterns such as air pressure, sun, rain, even phase of the moon. (Don't laugh at the last... some natural phenomena, such as spawning of fish like the grunion do follow that pattern) Each time we thought we had a pattern, the plants missed a synchronization or otherwise told us "nope". So still a mystery of nature.
