if so i have been there! it is completely otherworldly!!

i went in 2000 with a buddy from college who played catillion and he was obsesses with the place and talked about it for years.....he took me up into the UF freedom tower and let me hit the pedals and levers of the catillion...most powerful i have ever felt...you literally play this instrument with closed fists and kicks!!!


anyway, the bells at the iron mountain (what they call the area where the gardens are) were pretty incredible


now i have to take my girls there but i'll wait for the phais to be in bloom!

This is from a seed grown population. And, they vary a bit, primarily in the color on the lip. Some are solid colored, others are flushed with white.

Calanthes need a hard rest period (3-4 months with NO water). However, the Phaiocalanthe hybrids appear to grow year round, so I keep them hydrated. They grow equally well in spaghnum, and a terrestrial mix.
