Default Domingoa Purpurea needs a new home

Hey everyone,
I'm moving some orchids out to make room for ones I can better take care of. I have a Domingoa Purpurea (also known as Nageliella Purpurea) mounted on a cork piece, looking to get rid of. Its in good health. I will post a picture in a bit. Let me know if you're interested, we can work out some details.

3M, were you able to successfully bloom this plant? I found it needs extremely high humidity here. I've tried several different methods to get blooms, to no avail. I was going to try the vase method but can't find a vase tall enough.

No I have not. It grows new leaves, roots, etc but no blooms. I suspect similar, that it needs high humidity

Mine flowered in low humidity, but I couldn't keep up with the watering. I think having an automated watering system and watering daily would be the way to go.

It gets very bright shade in habitat, and a lot more sun in winter when the trees drop their leaves. But remember bright shade in the tropics might be brighter than mostly sun in a northern climate. If in a terrarium I think it would need to be close to the lights.

Is your plant mostly purple? It will be if it gets a lot of light.

It sure looks healthy. The only suggestions I would make are more light in winter, and perhaps more fertilizer. Mine flowered much smaller, bare root, dangling from a string.

Does it have a winter rest? It seems quiet right now

Where it's from winters have no rain, but there will be dew on many nights. It doesn't get long dry spells. It gets very much more light in winter. This is similar to many Dendrobiums in sections Dendrobium and Densiflorum.

Well I don't have the best of luck with dendrobiums unfortunately. If anyone else is interested in this guy, just let me know

I find that mine shoots up lots of flower stems, which then dry up. I've read never to cut them, as they can resprout and bloom (which mine is doing, except for the bloom.) I believe Leafmite told us someone in her club grows it successfully in a vase. I have not found a vase tall enough to accommodate the flowering stems. I did out it out last year and got 1 measly bloom.

That is a very cute plant. Mine is potted and messily covered with old flowering (not) stems. This reply should bump your thread. I have a Sharry Baby start I'd like to re-home too. Maybe we should start a free to good home catagory.
