Invasive Chinese Ground Orchid in Florida: Eulophia graminea Male
Default Invasive Chinese Ground Orchid in Florida: Eulophia graminea

I have found that misterious plant wuth a huge green bulb growing in my back yard. At first it looked like a tuberose with a foot high vertical spike that grew tiny orchids. Doing my research I have found it is called Eulophia graminea or Chinese ground orchid. it is an invasive species first seen in Miami, now spreding up north (i live in Hillsborough co.) Following the advice of eliminate it, even being an orchid lover, I carefully dug up all the bulbs which were plenty and put it in the trash sealing the bag after. Thank God the flowers were young enough and didn't produce any seeds.
I can't add the links to the articles

Interesting orchid! While 'invasive' it might be. It's definitely no-where near as invasive as us humans/people in general ----- taking over landscapes and the planet that is heheh.

Also - how these plants got there was likely due to our own actions too. We probably introduced them.

That lady pulling the orchids out in the video should probably reflect on one-self (and people) ------ and then she'll understand that we're causing much more problems on the planet. I might correct myself here ----- we're causing ALL the problems on this planet.

But - interesting video. Thanks for linking it!

Thanks for removing. I found this species once in what used to be called Parrot Jungle in Miami. I didn't know what it was and just took a picture and then left. I think the folks here on Orchid Board ID'd it for me.

We have are own Epipactis helleborine in the North East, which is an introduced orchid. It can be invasive in garden scapes. I've never seen them in truly wild setting.
