Spring can't come soon enough here, I've been consoling my hundred kitchen orchids telling them not much longer now...
I built a greenhouse in Jan semi protected from the blistering summer sun, without factoring that in winter the lowering of the sun's angle meant the greenhouse is now entirely in the shade (at 13-14c max)
I just need to get through the next few weeks without casualties.

Like most Aussie non-rainforest dwellers this one goes dormant once the 30c hot dry weather starts. They pop up from tubers once the winter rains kick off, with the bushfires we get here evergreen orchids would be few.
It's surprising the low quality clay soil they seem to grow in.
