Succulent growers use mostly (75%-90%) pumice, large gravel or perlite plus some organic matter like potting soil or leaf mold. The idea is to not let it dry completely during the growing season, but not suffocate the roots. Roots look like Cymbidium roots.
Hint: These grow a lot faster with heavy fertilizing. Friends in St Louis who never fertilized never got flowers. They're able to flower when they have 3-4 pseudobulbs.

Well, its happening again, a single forum post has pushed me over the edge and I have become obsessed with yet another genus. This seems to happen every time I open this website.

But there is so much interesting and useful stuff here I cant stop coming back! I'm going to go bankrupt soon if this keeps up though.

I can't help on source... I got it from a friend (an older grower) and I don't know where HE got it. It grows really slowly so not likely to be divided for several more years (just did it and shared a piece with another friend) |

No worries! When the world gets normal again, I might have to head over back to Tucson and visit friends (I used to live there)... and buy plants at the place mentioned by ES!  |

Oh, yes. I just ordered Eulophia andamanensis, E. euglossa, E. guineensis and E. petersii. 2 each of course, to have backup  Actually every Eulophia species I could find that can be delivered to my location  And while searching online I also found some other plants I really wanted to have for quite some time, like Vanilla imperialis etc. |
