Truly tiny plants with beautifully patterned flowers. I’ve tried these a few times, but have never been successful in forming new tubers to carry over from year to year. I know they are grown in an inorganic, pumice-like media. This year they were planted in clay pots with extra fast draining peat media. Keeping my fingers crossed...
For those interested... Kusamono Gardens sells these, and other Japanese tuberous terrestrial orchids like Habenaria radiata and Spiloxene sinensis. They take pre-orders in late fall, usually November, then ship in spring. Often by the time of spring shipment they are sold out for the year. The surest way of getting some is to pre-order. If you sign up for their newsletter you will be notified when pre-ordering opens, and in years past they have sent a discount code as well.
