Default Phaius Tankerville

Can't take credit for blooming it, I bought it that way...this past weekend...for $13.50!!!!! It has a huge softball sized pbulb with two bloom stalks and lots of babies forming around it. I also bought a NOID Tolumnia hybrid ($2 bargain bin find @ Lowes that has a broken bloom spike), an Epi. Mabel Kanda 'Miyao' x Enc. Randianum (Randii?) and an Onc. Ampliatum.

Ps: also showing my Bletilla Striata

What a great plant! (and at a great price!) Very, very nice!

PS. It looks like your Bletilla are in the ground - are they planted out permanently? Do you do anything special for them?

Looks great, George

Although Phaius tankervilleae is said to do well in varied degrees of light, I have found partial shade do work best with mine. It gets very slight filtered morning sun and then very filtered afternoon light but for most of the day, it's in the shade of the covered area on the lanai

Sue, what's the plant to the right of your phaius? I love the leaves on it! Is it some sort of kalanchoe?

Hi Adam

Yes, it's also known as Donkey Ears. It puts out baby plantlets at the ends of the large leaves...would you like one or two next time they come out?

Those are some great looking plants. I actually ran into a "grove" of Phaius tankervilliae in full bloom when I went hiking the other day. They are great plants and the scent was nice too! Maybe Ill have to "harvest" one......
