Wintergirl you should have one, they really are easy. I'm surprised Andy doesn't have any, maybe soon. They are very slow from when you notice the spike until they bloom. I believe it was February when I saw these spikes and there are several buds left to open.
My plant is 1" tall and wide, it has 12 leaves. You need one. |

I have wanted one of these for so long. Next time I want to order and it's not on the website I will call. Andy says they take them off line if they have less than 25. Anyway I better stop looking at everyone's beautiful plants until this order is shipped, I keep adding to it. |

Ok, just to help out here is a picture of my Schoenorchis / scolopendria sp. creeping (China) from Andy's I got last fall. I know Pattywack really needs this one to add to her collection. I just hang it with other plants, almost vanda light and no extra enclosure. You can see the difference since I got it. The lighter growth is new, along with the bloom and buds. One is just opening.

That's interesting you're growing it in a near enclosed cylinder... seems like something that needs to dry out and air flow (actually that's what many report), and reportedly needs near full sun... well, guess plants don't read or hear what's said about them LOL
I've killed more of these, as well as scolopendria, than I care to remember... in a growing case/ terrarium, outside, in a glass cylinder partially open... and this is considered "easy"... there's a point where one has to give up... but sure nice to enjoy other's albeit through pictures! |
Wonderful!

Wintergirl, awesome! Andy seems to have most everything, gawd I would love to go to his greenhouses. Can you just imagine?! My Schoenorchis fragrans was one of my first minis, I was terrified of killing it after I got it so I decided to grow it in the little vase and it did so well, I never moved it. Now it's the centerpiece of my east window along with others.
Your Schoenorchis scolopendria is different, I've not seen this one. Hope it's full of blooms soon, very cool. Post pics of your new one when it arrives! We're all enablers here ya know! ---------- Post added at 08:54 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:43 PM ---------- U bada, I'm sorry you've not been able to grow this one. I've not had any issues with mine at all, it's always been a slow grower but never a problem. I usually keep the top open except over night and early morning. The humidity is high and the glass gets steamed up. The stick it's mounted on is not touching the water in the vase so I mist the roots every few days. It hangs inside. I don't get the leaves wet, afraid to. The hanger keeps the lid from making a seal so it is not ever air tight. It really has been a pleasant little plant and everyone that sees it just can't get over it. |
Mine, I just misted rain water on s.moss once a day with occasional light mist to the entire plant. Only fertilized twice since Oct 2015.

Wintergirl that is a cute one also.

My Schoenorchis fragrans arrived yesterday, can't wait to get a bloom on that one. Here is a picture of that one from Andy's. The next picture is a better one of Schoenorchis scolopendria. My smallest bloom and hard to photograph.

Oooh yeah! Glad you got it, the bloom on your other scolopendria looks just like the fragrans. I have a Platystele stenostachya and it is super hard to get a pic of. Congrats on the new one!
