I've been considering moving on Haraella Retrocalla to a vase with some pebbles and out of my terrarium. I think that it's too warm in the terrarium for it and that's why my spikes haven't grown since I bought the plant. I think it needs more air movement than it gets in a terrarium. When I have seen this plant bloom, it's almost always in more of a glass jar with an open top scenario.

It loves being wet lol.
I know what you mean though...
Sometimes I feel like mine has been wet too long.
Now that I can see some roots though I feel more confident.
If your moss starts springing to life I'd say your care is on point.

I do think this guy likes moist but not as much moist as other miniatures, so watch out this guy.

I remember people mentioning it should dry out a little. And that it didn't like being as wet as other plueros.
I've been moving it all around my terrarium looking for the perfect spot.
I think I'll have to incorporate more rock.
Good to know about the fragrans. I really want to see it bloom one day.

Hmm.... Now that you mention it a few people do have them set up like that.
Give it a go!
I'm just going to keep monitoring them for now. But maybe that's why my spike stalled.
Hopefully not.
Open containers in my room evaporate very quickly.
I keep all my fans on high and windows open at all times lol. Maybe something with a narrow neck?

So!
Exciting things have happened.
The extraordinarily generous TommyMiami sent me a package!
And inside were two surprise orchids he thinks will do well in this lantern.
Very clever with the to go sauce cups.
I still don't know what they are. But this one has cute veins
The other... is so tiny I'm not even sure it's real.
The whole division is about the size of two leaves from my lepanthes telipogoniflora!
I wasn't going to post until I knew for sure what they were.
But I was too gosh darn excited!
Thank you so much TommyMiami!

Ok, first, I HATE USPS. Did I mentioned that I HATE USPS. I just can't believe, how ignorant and retarded these workers are, so sorry if there is anyone working for USPS. Lately, every single package that I did ship to anyone came in this and worse condition, even the fact it has at least one red FRAGILE sticker, than FRAGILE written all over, perishable, live plants, etc etc. I am so happy they did make it in great shape - and this explains why I do use this huge box for such a tiny plastic cups, the filling of the box actually protects these poor babies:-) Ok, so you got one division of Pleurothallis calyptrostele, the "TINY" one! This one love to be on life moss, and in moist environment constantly. I have few, the one mounted on hygrolon cylinder does grow like crazy, close to LED light, and did spike already 3 times. The other division is Trichosalpinx chamaelepanthes, love this guy, I have it just hanging all over the place, it starts to shoot roots towards any hard surface, and once they attach, it starts new growths. I hope your new chids will do great in your lantern. I felt very happy when you mentioned I was the cause of this lantern, so I wanted to add "something little", literally! ENJOY!

It's so funny because my area, USPS is normally only one that doesn't destroy packages!
I don't have any solid evidence, but packages marked with "fragile" seem to get mistreated more than unlabeled ones.
I'll play around a bit with positioning, but they look great!
I think the pluero already has a perfect spot. I've been searching for something that likes very moist, but stayed very small...
The trichosalpinx has the best growth habit ever!
I can't wait to see them bloom!
What colour form are the trichosalpinx blooms? I see lots of colour forms on Google.
Thank you so much. It's so great have an actual piece the inspiration in there!

Haha it kind of does look illegal.
The.trichosalpinx lost a few leaves in the trip, but a good soak helped.
I'll be sure to post pix as soon as I'm back from Disneyland.

The color for Trichosalpinx is very dark burgundy I would say, I have somewhere the pics of the blooms from this plant, just have to look for them :-) If the spot for calyptrostele is very moist, I would put some piece of any life moss on the rock and placed calyptrostele on the moss itself maybe, it loves moist but not soaking wet all the time. Even on hygrolon cylinder it is mounted over the life sphagnum, and it is loving it :-) Enjoy them!

Ok... I think i know where to set them now.
I don't have any spare live moss. So I'll just have to grow some.
