No mold. No fungus...
I don't leave the door open.
I do open it briefly to turn the light on and off.
The back top vent is open, and there's gaps between the glass and wood, as well as around the door.
It's pretty still in there but I guess that allows for enough air exchange.

I am getting moss though! That's very exciting for me

Does your little lep. teli always stay that wet? How far away from the light is it? Mine came mounted on a tiny something or other,I think it is wood. Just trying to figure out how in the world to grow that one. Do you worry about it getting too warm or too much light? ...Jean

No... I let it dry out to moist, never drier than damp.
I'm not exactly sure how far away from the bulb it is. Not very far... maybe too a little too close as the new growths are lime green with red tinge.
I'll measure it for you.

Mine came on a wood too... I had it in the same lantern. But for a while it just rested as it came.
I had it resting against the side of a shallow glass dish.
I would fill the dish up about 1/4 of an inch with water, and fill it up again a day or two after it evaporated.
I don't worry about temperature. Yet.
I don't have a heater or air conditioning so there isn't much I can do.
I can say I tend to run the lights on this at night. So that probably keeps the temperature range more stable.

Jean, sorry to highjack this post, just a tip for telipogoniflora - I recently posted mine blooming and I do grow this one together with tsubotae with simple glass orb, with moss on the bottom, no light except the light from the balcony door. It grows like crazy! Check the post, maybe you can try this, very simple and easy and telipogoniflora loves it!

Ordphien, love to see the progress, totally cool, I am so happy all the plants are doing great inside, and especially they are blooming and spiking! Awesome. I LOVE the mushrooms :-) Once the moss will grow more, this will be absolutely amazing little green piece of miniature orchid paradise!

Ok. I measured.
And the light is 8" from most of my plants.

Biggest update...
The other lantern is being redesigned.
I think putting a fan in there before the humidifier did my orchids in. They were drying out too fast and it did a number on them. I should've known better. I saw it happening.
I have numerous other setups that are thriving.
The good news is i know exactly what I did wrong.
Fortunately none died and i feel optimistic about saving them.
A few are already showing new root tips.

I want to incorporate hygrolon in somehow before I start over.

Anyhow. All the plants from there got moved to here.

To answer the watering question. I'm considering my conditions well met when I see moss spring up.
And moss is springing up!

So... The lepanthopsis astrophora is on its very last flower on the spikes.
Countless new growths.

The lepanthes telipogoniflora has 5 spikes and 4 aerial roots!
The second one up from the bottom on the left is showing the red tinge.

My retrocalla stalled it's spike. Threw out tons of roots. And now a second spike is here.

Now... The new plants. Pluerothallis leptifolia... No roots... I'll have to see...
The plant itself is in really good shape. So I have hope.

The other retrocalla.. minimal roots. But. New root tips and a spike!

And schoenorchis fragrans. One root.

Thanks ordphien and Tommy mine is still on the little mount and it is just sitting on top of lava rock sitting in water, it still seems to be too wet! Still trying to figure out this little thing! It does look as if it is putting out a new leaf tho. Your lantern is so beautiful and I like the new additions.....Jean

Ordpjien, Schoenorchis should be fine even with only one healthy root, mine has only some 2 big roots since I got it, and it is in spike now. Be careful with leptifolia, I had this guy on hygrolon cylinder, and it was the only plants that was not really doing great in that setup, I did move it after some 6 months, mounted it n the small cork piece and place on the top of the moss in my open vivarium, and it prefers it more, it grew already one new leaf in 2 months (it did absolutely nothing for some 8 months when on cylinder). I do think this guy likes moist but not as much moist as other miniatures, so watch out this guy.
