Default Gastrochilus japonicus

I acquired this little guy a month ago in bud. I'm delighted that it has held its flowers through a move to a new home and still in bloom.

Lovely! and I really like these.

I have one that I got last summer, and the vendor was honest to tell me they had just potted them up. It still hasn't bloomed but it is growing like crazy and just started sending out new roots again after a little lull over the past few months. I'm growing it as it came - in a net pot with spag or maybe it's coir. Would it do better mounted. I have a lot of mounts and they do seem to do better in general. "tho this one seems to still need water about every 1-2 days.

Thank you, Carrie. I haven't had mine long enough to hazard a guess about changing yours to a mount. This is my first Gastrochilus and it was mounted on treefern at purchase. It seems very happy on the treefern, as some of its roots have attached and are moving along the mount. The treefern dries out fairly quickly so I also water every one to two days.Sounds like yours is doing well since it is growing and sending out new roots. Good luck with it. I hope you see blooms soon!
