I'm reducing the light on my potted one (a lot of red leaves) so I figured I'd take a comparative pic. I need to move one of the mounted ones to more light, see if it blooms as much as the potted one. It currently shares a container with the other mounted one (I need to name them or something).

They aren't cooperating!

They continued to take turns blooming then took a 2-3 month break and now they're back!

These two were purchased at the same time from the same vendor. Notice how they diverged in growth habit? Genetics or environment (enclosure size, material, different height location 18 inches and 45° apart)? I recently unpotted and mounted the third one (not shown), I got tired of plucking out overgrown moss.

The wider splayed plant (top) is in a 15cm diameter x 22cm high glass container. I now have it half covered with newsprint weight sketch paper, I've tried tulle prior.


The compact grower is in a plastic PETE deli container.

Comparing the pics from the previous post, genetics. The differences are more pronounced now but were evident a year ago.

Very intersting thread. I have 2 different plants from 2 different vendors (now divided to 4 separate plants), but for some reason I can't post a picture here... it says "post denied too many URLs" or something like that.
Anyways, one comes from a popular European vendor and the other one is from Ecuador. There is big difference in the flower shape and color. The plant from Ecuador is a clear winner with its round and big bright colored flower against a bit smaller and more angular (more "lepanthes-like") paler colored flower from Europe. Also the plant from Ecuador has broader leaves that don't turn red as the narrower leaves of the European plant do when subjected to somewhat brighter light.

I have a quartet now.

At 3 o'clock is the one I recently mounted and at 6 o'clock is the newest addition.

I think I'll call this one "Animal" from the Muppets.
