Question on terrarium orchids Female
Default Question on terrarium orchids

Is it easier to grow miniature terrarium orchids?
It seems as though it would be easier to control the climate.
Do they bloom more often then other orchids?

It depends!

Many mini-miniatures from the Pleurothallis Alliance for example have no blooming period. They grow and flower constantly. Unfortunatly many of them have high demands on the climate (cold growing).

Can you control the climate, I would say that a good selection of miniatures for terrarium growth can be selected to more or less flower constantly. Just make sure that the species do not come from a habitat with distinct seasons.

I've only started growing in a terrarium (ie. 4 or 5 months), but I have to say that my orchids are now well established and I have a ton of new spikes coming up. In theory, being able to control the environment should help with bigger and better flowers. If you are thinking of trying terrarium growing, I say go for it!! It is REALLY fun!!
