Beautiful. I am considering buying some miniatures to put in my terrarium, including this beaut. I grow under a diffused T5 HO, daytime temperatures are 75-85, and get a decent drop at night; usually RH averaging about 80% and gets a slight spike at night with the temperature drop, of course. I have good ventilation, too. What is your setup, and what is in your growing area?

I have a growing cabinet in my living room.

Summer temperature: night 19-22 degree C, day 25-35 degree C
Winter tempererature: night about 17-20 degree C, day 25-32 degree C

RH about 50-80 %



The lights are 4*54W T5 6500K and 1*150W MH 5600K




It is not optimum and some plants grow well in the summer other do well during the winter.

How far from your lights do you keep your Phrag. besseae, Isabelia virginalis? Which of your pleurothallids are tolerant of higher light intensity? I apologize for burdening you with so many questions, but my growing conditions are similar to yours, but I do not have the ability of increasing the plant's distance from my lights as you do.

No problem

For my Phrag. besseae var. dalessandroi I have it in my livingroom window, south-west, and the window stand open all summer.
My Isabelia virginalis flowered once and slowly perished away after that. Think it was to warm during the summer.

For pleurothallids they many can handle quit alot of light but is intollerant to heat, a problem when grown in a growing cabinet indoors. I have not enough experience to pinpoint who is more suitable for high ligh conditions.

how do you maintain night temperature? do you have airconditioner for cabinet?

The cabinet is not climate controlled, the light sources warm it during daytime and the cabinet goes to ambient temperature during night, Thereby I have a nice temperature difference between night and day suitable for warm to intermediate growing orchids depending on the season.
