It is!!!! This is going to be a cool project, if not bank breaking.

I wouldn't mind but I have one right now and that wouldn't be fair. They're easy to care for in a terrarium, that's for sure. Mine's starting a new shoot/growth (at least I think it's a shoot.)

@rsfrid I don't believe in pictures shown on the web. They are often false.
The two pictures don't show the same species.

They aren't supposed to be the same species. One is G. somai and the other is G. japonicus according to this oft quoted web site Internet Orchid Species Photo Encyclopedia

I am having trouble finding a connection between the two, since your earlier message states they are the same (I believe you used the term synonym.)

Actually if its alright, I'de like to stay undecided on all choices till the final few have been chosen by the group. I promise to choose one at that point and stick with the winner whatever it might be. One of the great things about these projects is that they expose you to new orchids you might normally never try.

I've noticed that.

Here a link to KEW:
Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew: World Checklist Series

I have to acknowledge, that KEW isn't perfect.

A comment to Jay's HP: As you have mentioned, many people quote this site.
I love Jay's site due to the dimensions and diversity, but I knew from experience, that there are many mistakes.
