about 12 or 13 blooms this one will have..





Im really liking these small plants..I still love the big ones but many of them cant be grown indoors in jars like these

Nice! Mine is slow growing and only blooms every couple of years. I have it mounted in bright light. Yours look way better. Can you describe how exactly you grow yours. And did I see a sophronitella violacea in the right hand corner?

the leptop grows in his own jar world of Hydroton and live moss..lava rock is in the bottom like a filter..The plant is actually in coarse bark charcoal and Aliflor mix in a net basket..The jars are like little micro-climates..the water is suspended as vapor by the sun or heat. The vapor is collected by the moss and then absorbed by the media.. I do water it lightly on occasion bec the process really only provides constant humidity.The moisture that comes from the water vapor is pure water...The moisture in the jar just cycles back and forth ..I do change the water and clean the algae off the glass and any junk that collects about once a month..The light is bright indirect about the same as I give the neo and psychopsis. I get a lot more heat from the light source from windows than I do actual light. Temps never below 65 or above 75 degrees..

Thanks for the quick reply. I may just try this method out. I do love this species! I have had my plant for 10 years now, the longest I have ever had a plant.

I love Leptotes bicolor. I have the smaller unicolor but it's not doing well so far. I think I will have to try this one.

Wow, it looks great! So many buds! Mine doesn't seem to been doing anything this year. I got it as a young plant, and it bloomed for the first time last year (only 1 flower). Maybe it's still not mature enough to bloom yearly. Who knows.

You got such a lovely plant! I just got mine, which is smaller than yours, and it has one flower in bloom. It's upside-down just like yours (is that a habit of this species), and not only that, but the back of the lip is also facing outwards. Maybe my plant is just wacky, lol.

Thanks for sharing the pics and the cultural info. I just got mine a few days ago and it's good to find out more info about it. I hope I can keep mine alive!

Also, I never heard of growing them in jars before. That is very interesting. Mine is in a 2" pot and I just happen to have clay pellets, moss, and a small glass bowl in handy.
