Rosie, the flower should last awhile. Under my condition, the flower normally last for 4 weeks or so.

I grow mine I/W in the summer and much cooler in the winter. The rh is ranging from 55%-80% for most the time. I water mine(on cork mount w/o moss) every other day and for a month or two in the winter, I let it go drier(water it 2X per week). Medium light(1800-2000FC).

If you water it too often, the plant will rot.

Fertilizing--2X during the warmer months, less in the winter.

Thanks for the info Tom.

It just seems to dry very very quickly, even with our 50% ish rh. Maybe I need to not be scared of letting it be dry over the winter.

Mine (bicolor) in on cork, without sphag, and my humidity is around 50-70%. I water it every morning ( and mist it later in the day as well during the warmer months.) That seems like more than enough for it, even though it bone dry when I get home. Normally when it's underwatered you'll notice because the leaves will get wrinkled. I've found that it can tolerate a few days, even a week, without water just fine since the leaves are quite succulent.

I'd be a bit worried that yours it's losing leaves like that. Were they wrinkled, or turning yellow? I've had my Leptotes for nearly 2 years, and it's only lost one old leaf/growth in that time.

As for fertilizing, mine gets soaked in 125ppm N nearly every day, just like all the other orchids. Tap water should be more than fine for it.

Thanks Camille,

One of the leaves was yellow and I was not suprised to find it fell off. The others looked healthy and that's what worried me.

I've just had a thought that maybe they were damaged when I dropped it and knocked the second flower bud off. It looked like all the leaves had survived that but maybe these were affected.

No more have dropped off so

I've been watering (by dunking for a few minutes) every morning, but it is so bone dry when I get home I've been spraying it as well even now in the winter. I guess I can leave not worry too much about the misting at this time of year.

Thanks Camille.
