Default Domingoa haematochila

Domingoa haematochila (or blood-red lip)

I got this from Andy's in bud 2 weeks ago. This was not on my wish list but Andy recommended it as a warm grower. Looks like a Pleuro. but it is related to cattleya and can interbreed within that alliance.

This is definitely an orchid I can only appreciate after close-up photography. The petals are only 1/2 inch and you need a magnifier to see the stylish little hood over the pollinia.

Tip: Do not cut flower spike, may rebloom for years from the same spike.

Very nice flower! I think it's cool you bought the plant because it was recommended and then you grow to like it.

That's a cute little flower. Sometimes it's cool when you have to take a closer look to fully appreciate a bloom.
