Default Aerangis citrata

This little beauty is growing in a 2 1/2 in. pot that sits on aliflor in a s/h pot for the extra humidity and it seems to be quite happy. I bought it last year in April when it was in bloom and it is pretty close to being on schedule this year. It is growing in a plastic pot of mini bark and perlite and mulched with sphagnum. I water it once per week with rainwater and mist the sphagnum with rainwater when it dries, (two or three times per week).

I could think of a few ways, but do you have a preferred method of rainwater collection?

I'm enjoying your pictures. Here and in the 'orchids in bloom' thread.

Nice Aerangis. They do prefer mounting to pots and benefit from lots of humidity. Mine has 10 spikes and still with mini buds. Will post when in bloom.

Thanks for the tip Ross. I will mount when it has finished blooming. Is cork a good choice for the mount?

Yes. Mine's on a piece of cedar shingle. I don't think they are fussy. If you use cork, the roots will certainly establish very well and in the future you may find you need to remount it. At that time you may wish you had chosen a smoother surface, but cork is a wonderful mount in general.

Sorry, but what is a S/H pot? I bought mine about 2 mos. ago at an orchid fair. It has been fine during that time. I noticed that while I was away for 2 wks on vacation & it had no watering during that time, it developed a new aerial root. Do these like to be pot bound?
