Potted Frankoma - Bulbs. - Orchid Board

When me and my mom went down to stillwater Ok, to apply for college, we went antiquing a little, Alot really, my parents are addicted to old stuff. So during the trip, i decided to look for cool pots, and found one i knew i absolutely had to have. I've given up saying no, and now if i want something that i KNOW i want, (NEED!) then i buy it.. So i want this to mount on the wall someday, but thought i'd get it growing, to get the moss coverage to start up before i even plan on mounting it.... I have a Bulbophyllum frostii, Bulb. moniliforme, and a Bulb. (Cirr.) thaiorum. Thats it for orchids, but theres also a small unknown fern, as well as a Cephalotus follicularis, Ficus pumilo, and 2 sundews or butterworts, I dont know my CP's (Carnivorous plants)yet.. Anyways heres a few shot of it, and i hope the Bulb. frostii will eventually let the leaves grow perpendicular to the pot. I will house it in its own terrarium by itself under some grow lights to keep gnats from getting to it, which is one of the reasons i potted it up today...
Sorry, but I had to tell my story before you get to see it...

From what will be the 'top view' eventually...
I also havn't added any moss to it, because i will put that stuff through quarintine.

That is so COOL!!! Love the container and the layout! This is why I love thrift stores, antique stores, and the like. You never know what treasures you can find.

I'll be looking forward to updated photos of this as it develops and grows in! Good job!

Kind of hard to tell, but I think your CP might be butterwort. If it has smooth, sort of slimey leaves, it's butterwort. If the leaves have little hairs with gooey droplets on the tips (like dew), it's a sundew.

yeah, i kinda washed off everything today, to get all the old substrate off, but i guess they are sundews because after about a week, they start to develope the 'dew'...

I have the names of them all, but i just havn't memorized them yet... i have a picture taken that has the names in the location, but i need to update that as i've taken a few out of the things to put in that pot.

Ok.. So i've updated a little, and added a few more plants. Same concept new place, new house, under my 4 foot fluorescents.

Thats the group of orchids that i love, and in their nice potted homes. Im putting them through quarintine after i repoted them, and then will add some moss to them after they get situated.

Closeup of my most prized pot. A frankoma, that will mount on a wall pretty much like its seen there, and in the first pic.

My Bulb. lasiochilum. I just repotted it, to make all the leaves face the same direction, it was kinda hard, but they will grow to love their new possition.

Scaphosepalum rapax, also repoted at the same time, with trying to face the leaves in the same direction, this was much harder, but just split the clump up a little, and threw alot of sphagnum moss over them, and watered it in.

I thought i'd update since i took a few pics, and got some new stuff.
Heres the whole room that wasn't in too much use, so i decided i'd slowly convert that to my grow room. Mostly plants that im trying to keep away from gnats, so i took upstairs next to my room.

I try and keep this pretty clean.

OK a simple question as I love them all, what do you do for drainage holes in the pots? I see one is in a mug, do you have a way of drilling holes into them?

Thanks Evan, im back in an old pottery class starting to make a few (alot) of pots and mounts for new plants. I have alot of idea's and they are all based around having mounted pots, and also the clay cylinder.
I dont drill holes in any pots, i dont want to ruin them just for a plant, no matter how much more i like the plants than the pots. I just pay close attention to the wettness of the soil, and really i havn't watered any of those since basically i put them in there. I do water the black vertical one but only at the top, that way the water slowly wicks down. Its a little to wet down there for my cephalotus, but it seems to be doing good, and can be a lot wetter than all the other plants in there, hence its location. That pots always going to be inverted like that, and will have a permantent home on some wall in my house when i get one.
Thats in an enclosed aquarium, so humidity and moisture doesn't really escape. I open it twice a day, and it has 2 small fans, that keep the glass clear, so i think thats enough air movement for them.
Everythings doing great, but im going to go dry the area around the ceph real quick with some napkins.
