Default February blooms - mini

I hope these all are considered miniatures.

From left to right:
• Dendrobium torressae, the plant, then the bloom – I’ve posted this guy often, but I just love it – had it six years (size of a nickel) and it bloomed after about 6 months, and has never stopped – about 3 inches around now – blooms are a bit smaller than a pencil eraser (sorry about the fuzzy picture)
• Epidendrum discolor, the plant, then the bloom – first bloom for this one
• Dendrochilum wenzelii, the plant, then a bloom close-up – A first bloom – in 1 ½ inch pot
• Masdevallia Ken Dole – Got this from Ivan Komoda about a month ago – first bloom – it’s VERY white

In a greenhouse, summer temps 65-85, winter temps 60-80, humidity usually around 60-75%, light "moderate" (don't have a f.c. reading) watered once a week, during the summer often an additional watering w/ fertilizer between the weekly waterings.

You have to be patient, it has been a slooooow (but steady) grower for me.

Hope that helps. Good Luck.

Ed

Spectacular growing, Ed. I can see why you love this Dend. So do I! What kind of wood is it mounted on? Is it cork? It's like 2 pieces, fitting perfectly together, a perfect match.

Sandy,

It IS cork, and it IS 2 pieces. When it needed re-mounting, the plant was almost embedded into the cork, and I know it would ruin the plant to try to detach it. I just found a slightly larger piece that fit together well with the original, and tied the two together. The plant didn't even notice, and has just kept growing.

I think this is a normal way with mounts. You can't usually take a plant off a mount without some severe damage.
