Default Epidendrum conopseum

My Epidendrum conopseum just bloomed. Got it from Andy's about a year ago, and this is first bloom. It has been growing nicely since I got, and seems healthy, happy and looks like it should be a regular bloomer.

Isn't it amazing how much scent that little thing puts out!? I have three baskets full of this plant. Ross, if you really want one, I've got enough for trade-bait.....if you'd like. And a lot of them are in bloom (or in spike) right now! This was my runner-up for the calendar!

Hi I have just purchased an Epidendrum conopseum from Andy's Orchids and I was wondering if you had any culture tips on how to grow it. Is it prone to disease? Is it as easy to grow as it sounds?

Thanks,

David.

This is actually a very diverse orchid....it grows from the Carolinas, southward down the whole east coast, and right around just about the whole Gulf coast. It grows well in cool, intermediate, and hot climates, seems to prefer medium light, and even seems a little drought hardy. This plant thrives with very little attention, and pretty much grows like a little weed. Hope this helps.
