Default In Bloom Now

Some more of my mini's that are blooming now. Sorry, but picture quality varies greatly . . . I need to find time to practice with this camera.

From left to right:

Chiloschista pusilla (a leafless orchid)
Cirrhopetalum tingabarinum
Masdevallia (Angel Tang x Copper Angel)
Masdevallia floribunda
NOID (pleurothallid of some sort, I believe)
Tolumnia (Orchidom Stunner 'Chameleon' HCC/AOS x tetrapetala)

Really nice Ed! Tell me more about C. pusilla. Think this would grow under high humidity in a tank? How much light do you give it?

Default Chiloschista culture

Ross,

My greenhouse generally has rh from 65-90%. Sometimes I will "dry it out" by shutting off the mist sysyem for a few days, but even then it never gets below 50% and probably average rh is 75-80%, and is more often high (80% +) than low.

Right now light is 1,5-1,800 fc (Phal. light) and probably gets up to 2,000 plus a bit at times, but I'm not sure if that is really the recommended level.

I don't give it any special care, it just hangs there.

I got it from Botanica Ltd. Thier url is:

Botanica Ltd. - orchids are our specialty

They are very good at discussing plant characteristics, culture, etc., and I have always been very satisfied with thier plant quality, packing methods, etc.

I have four varieties of Chiloschista, and my impression is that they are relatively "easy growers". Mine have been good bloomers (especially the pusilla) and seem to stay hardy and healthy. they are certainly much less demanding than Polyrrhiza lindenii (sp?).

Ed

Ed,
All your mini chids are beautiful. I particularly like the Cirrhopetalum tingabarinum and the Chiloschista pusilla. They all look very healthy and happy...well done!

Nice collection of minis. I also like the NOID. Looks like a good grower and planted on a rock? or is it? Nice growing.
