Hi Orchid Lover

I also have this strange little bulbophyllum. I don't think there are too many around cos nobody seems to have heard of them. Mine was a freebie which was rescued by a guy in another Orchid Club. Apparently they grow in mangrove areas, amongst other places, which I guess means they like moisture and humidity. I think we were told it was the 3rd smallest orchid in the world. Couldn't imagine what the smallest must look like. That is a great

I honestly would like to see an orchid that is smaller than this. I don't think there is one. lol. I measured the pseudobulbs and they average 2 millimetres across. I did a search on google for the smallest orchid and nothing came close to being this small as a plant. I'm sure there are orchids out there with smaller flowers. i have one Oberonia here with much smaller flowers (you can hardly see the flowers) but as a plant i would like to see something smaller than 2mm across. You might needs to get a microscope to see it.

Here is a pic of a specimen plant next to a match stick just for size comparison. You can see how small these pseudobulbs are. Its hard to even believe that its an orchid, lol.

Yup, that is really tiny. If I was to encounter that in nature I would suspect it to be a disease on a tree rather than an orchid. great now I want one!
