I haven't seen this much excitement over a new orchid in a long time. Wow. I looked for a source, and could only find one in the UK. Anyone find one closer to home?

Culture update.

I have found out that the flower of my hispidus collapses when the humidity goes below 80 %. Fortunate it recovers if the humidity is raised!

What type of mix are you growing it in? As for the flower collapsing in low humidity, that is a common problem for Corybas. I'm glad your flower recovered. Covering the pot with a transparent container will keep the humidity up and the flower in good condition. The lack of air movement doesn't affect the health of the plant.

Hi Andrew

This is my first try with Corybas and I went on my "feelings" when I planted them. The substrate is a mixtures of diatomite, bark, bits of coco fiber, small sized LECA, sphagnum moss and perlite and in the top 2 cm I also mixed in some Swedish wood moss and some hardwood chips of unknown origin. The Corybas appear to love this mix and my only problem know is what to do for the winter rest.

Given that your plant is flowering now it's obviously due to go dormant in winter but is there a reason why you're resting it in winter rather than summer (which is the normal time for dormancy)? Have the plants been grown in the northern hemisphere or were they recent imports from Australia. If the person you bought the plants from has been growing them in Europe, I'm curious how it receives the warm + dry dormancy cues heading into winter.
