If I wasn't saving up for something big, I would have gotten these. Congrats on these books, they look amazing.

Verdict? Would it be possible to get your opinion (and review) of these books?

Shipment is pending... based on the email that I got recently, the printing should be done, and then they'll be shipped to the publisher. Expecting it in the next couple of months. I'll certainly review when I get mine. The first edition was magnificent (if a bit unwieldy), the format of the second edition will make for books that are easier to manage in one's hands. So stay tuned...

Thanks for the info & insight.
Volumes 1 & 2 (first edition) were nicely done. Great photos too.

Woohoo! Just got my copy of the 2nd Edition of the Compendium of Miniature Orchid Species! Absolutely magnificent! I will be reading it for the foreseeable future - this is a huge opus. But congratulations to the authors Mary Gerritsen and Ron Parsons. The scholarship and the photography are just awesome. Each species has habitat and cultural information. The orchids may be miniature but the volumes certainly aren't. I'm glad that it's now 4 books instead of two, with size reduced so that I can lift them, a more enjoyable "reading size" for each one.

Having had a chance to look through the books at a little more length, I was able to gain appreciation of the new material. Multiple photos of many species show the variations within the species. This is a really important feature when one is trying to make an identification. Also, for the large genera, there are many more species with photos that have been added, beyond the ones with the extensive descriptions from the previous edition.

I completely agree with Roberta. This new compendium is a marvelous set of books with a wealth of information and stunning pictures. I highly recommend them to anyone who collects miniature orchids (or orchids in general).

I sorely tempted to buy this set of books. But as the UK is no longer in the EU there's going to be extra costs involved...
For those of you who ordered (even in the US) how much did shipping cost? Were you required to pay extra fees or VAT to 'import' them?
