For those of you who ordered (even in the US) how much did shipping cost? Were you required to pay extra fees or VAT to 'import' them?
I don't recall what the shipping cost... wasn't cheap. But the set is pretty heavy..as I recall something like 18 kilos (plants are miniature, books aren't) There weren't extra costs that I recall. I think the website does give you all the costs.

Thanks Roberta. I didn't find any information on the website so my best bet is probably to just shoot them an email. I did read online that the set weighs 12kg!

I was thinking of getting the books as a Christmas present to myself. I also need some reading to get through likely another long, dull covid winter.

Default Compendium of Miniature Orchid Species

The books are actually distributed from the publisher, who is located in the UK. Thus the shipping cost is minimal if you live in the UK, and there are no extra charges.

I believe the shipping cost with in the UK is something like 14 £.

Shipping of the books in the UK is approximately 14 GBP. No VAT charged as far as I know.

Thanks for the information. I'm outside the UK though (in EU) so there will probably be VAT charges.

I put the books in the shopping basket and it could calculate shipping fees, and I was surprised that it was only £19 to the Netherlands! That's extremely reasonable.

Do you have a rough estimation of how many different species you own?

Inside Europe you can also order here A Compendium of Miniature Orchid Species (4-Volume Set) | NHBS Academic & Professional Books and here Koeltz Botanical Books. A Compendium of Miniature Orchid Species. 2nd rev. & augmented ed. 4 volumes. 2021. 3080 col. photogr. 2270 p. gr8vo. Hardcover. the price at NHBS is lower.

I did order from Redfern but get a surprise for import duties and taxes of almost €50 on top.
