are the bottom layer plants in collective reservoir or is that water just around them for humidity and drainage?

Humidity & drainage. Tray holds a little over 3 gallons of water. During the week, most of that water is already evaporated which makes maintenance tasks fairly simple (the old school way).

Don't know about you... but when maintenance tasks start building up, they sometimes become overwhelming (especially if on a tight timeframe). That is when I start to consider "those tasks" as 'dreaded chores'. When it gets to that point, I find myself (more & more) putting those chores off because I dread them. Definitely takes away the enjoyment factor for me.

So if there is any way possible, I'll try to make things easier on me (using the word "try" lightly). Some of the ideas I have tried (in hopes of transforming into 'easier') turned into "more complicated"... did not work out at all. But, you learn from it.

I try to take the approach: if there is no right way, or no wrong way, there has to be a better way. Some of the 'better way ideas' I have put into play did turn out to be a better approach, but many did not. Kind of like drafting & design. The old school drawings (using a slide rule, rulers, compass, triangles, etc.) are all done computerized today, within our modern world.

CAD is a great tool that makes things easier, and saves time, especially on large scale projects. But if you are caught somewhere in bum-fig Egypt on a design job without a computer... the computer on your shoulders, along with the printer in your hand (a pencil), are the only things you have to work with ... so it helps to know the old school ways to make a rough drawing for a design.

You really know that I am following the 'Covid stay at home orders' when I babble & tribble on for several paragraphs, for a reply that should have only taken three words.

I have these, too. Thanks for clarifying which is which. Mine were all sold as prenticei (one has vanished but I still have three). Each one has been a little different. One has the flat leaves, the rest have the rounder ones but each has different flowers. No idea....

Wisdom....you are hilarious. I have to admit, I have spent weeks of my life doing things the hard way (at least once) so I could know that, if god forbid, the shit really hits the fan, I could do X, Y, or Z, well, I makes me feel confident LOL
