WOw, those are awesome! I have always been scared to try them because I have heard they are tricky to grow, but it sounds like they would do great in my conditions! Maybe I will get one at some point.

From my experience, normal greenhouse conditions (which likely for you will happen in a terrarium) should be fine - they do like humidity. My M. manabinum is no longer with me (I think it predated my RO system), but M. dalstroemii (which was a healthier plant to begin with) has been doing nicely in the greenhouse for several years.

It is a rewarding species. I too, really like the whole genius. If possible, you'll have to share some some photos of your dalstroemii... definitely a beautiful species.

Here's Macroclinium dalstroemii. These remind me of dandelions. Not easy to photograph. I took a lot of bad photos to come up with a few decent ones... pushing the limits of what the camera can do. A tiny, complex, three-dimensional flower so pretty impossible to get the whole thing in focus without special techniques.

One of the cool things about the genus is that they can produce several sets of blooms in sequence on the same spike... don't be quick to cut!

I have a small terrarium that matches the conditions you described almost exactly, so I expect it would do pretty well in there.

Fantastic! I killed mine off during a heat wave last summer and it really needs to be replaced. This is such a cool genus

Sorry to hear about that... heat waves (especially the extreme & long duration ones) can be brutal. On that note: hoping this year's hurricane season is not as brutal as predicted.

Macroclinium is a nice genus of orchids. I especially like the leaves of M. dalstroemii (Roberta's photos do justice with showing the leaf pattern).

How is your L. kettieana progressing? Any updates?

I have never heard of these before but...wow! They are just amazing! Thank you for sharing those beautiful flowers! I just love learning about new orchids as well as getting to see pictures of the beautiful orchids that other people grow. What a treat!
