When I started buying the cute little seedling cattleyas, I didn't realize how large some of them get! There is that no ID vanda, the aerides, and my cute baby angraecum sesquipidale, too! I am now discovering the world of fragrant miniatures.

its great to see young-in-age people being hooked and showing that the hobby is for everyone.........not just the "better off" and young-at-heart.
I have had a lot of people say that it is an expensive hobby, but that is not true these days as prices are more reasonable.

More than half my orchids were purchased as seedlings or, at best, adolescents. There is such a thrill when they bloom for the first time, it makes the wait bearable. And as Type-A person, I have to have patience!

Seedlings are fun and rewarding. Some of my cattleya seedlings are getting close! The sesquipidale has a long, long time but I love watching it grow and put out those crazy roots.
I just didn't realize how large some of these orchids get. :|

You've got the orchid bug, and it's getting bad! I went through where you are currently at ... I have orchids in every possible space and still have them lining the floor! I've been telling myself "no more!" (With the exception of miniatures for in the terrarium) yet i just got 2 vanda coeruleas and I have a 3ft Dendrobium spectabile that will be here on Wednesday ...

This is not a hobby - it's an addiction.

It not like are that many different orchids to collect right? About 25k species and 25k hybrids, with different color variations of each.
