After long and careful consideration, I've decided to drastically pare down my orchid collection. Although I've kept a few stanhopeas and dendrobiums, the rest of the plants have been donated to a local botanical garden. I also kept the calamondin orange (Citrofortunella microcarpa), since it's super easy to grow and bloom, and the scent of its blossoms fills up the house. A number of cycads are also in the collection (although not in the sunroom when these pictures were taken). Hopefully it will look like a refined jungle in here by this time next year.

WOW! nice sunroom you have there. Love your citrus tree and photos of its blooms & I look forward to seeing more pics of your refined jungle as you say!

I downsized the pond to a half-whiskey barrel tub-pond two years ago so I understand perfectly the freedom you will now feel. I am trying to get my plant collection pared down a little, too. I rarely buy new houseplants, including orchids and I won't replace the Cattleya orchids lost to black rot. I have slated a few plants to be given away this spring. I don't know if I can ever de-jungelize to the extent you have done but wow! How inspiring!
