Thumbs up Paph House RE RE do

Posted some issues with my paph house. I tore it up this morning and fixed them issues. Had to Rebuilt it this afternoon and I'm very happy now not to mention worn to a nubbin

#1 cut the light fixture in half..
yup..have 2 (4) light fixtures now.Instead 1 (8) light fixture..Much better

#2 Did away with the wire racks.
I didnt like them the minute I put them in. Then had another Idea as the room evolves. I locked myself in with the grid pattern shelf. But I liked the idea of having my plants being held in place. So I built another shelf and this one only has rails. I can slide the plants around and find the spot for them not have to put it here or there..all about having choises

partial front view

view from the bottom of the top shelf
the 2 inside rails are for 2 inch pots

I even had room for 8 jar worlds,4 on each side at the top where they need to be where its hot

and the happy paph family all moved in!!!

going to start the 2nd closet this weekend and use this blueprint ..I like it!! and have more lights!!!

be sure to ZOOM in and see the nice plants too!!!

I love the idea of your top shelf! One question though... does the water drip to the lower shelf plants when you water your orchids?
I have to say, your paphys look super-happy!

I don't water them on the shelves .I take them down and carry them around to the sink for water.

Dripping plants can cause lots of problems when they drip on other plants
Happy Holiday and thank you

Wow, how inventive. I've just been comparing the pics from the old set-up and not only do the wooden slats seem to function better for you, they look a lot more classy than the wire racks (but that's just my female-ness coming out!). What does Orkid think to all of this? does she try and climb in for a jungle adventure?

(ps since this is so far an 'American' populated thread, Happy Thanksgiving to you all x)

orkid is my freinds dog actually. she dont like me bec i put her in a clay pot and tried to water her she need a bath anyway. little dog big doggy smell.

the closets are in my spare room and NO I dont run around nekkid as much as I would like too

I didnt like the wire racks at all...

I started on the 2nd closet today and I hurt myself. Drove a sheetrock screw thru my thumb and passed out from shock...So its been a rough day...you can laugh Im okey...ahh that what happens when you try to drill a 2 inch screw thru a 1 1/2 board with you thumb behind it. Didnt hurt doing it,,hurt when I yanked my thumb back and ripped it out...but lost my legs from shock and laid in the floor for about 39 minutes a bloody mess..

woke up, cleaned it, put a band aid with some neosporin applied, finished what I was doing

It really hurt

Looks very interesting, I assume you have to grow inside your home then? I think your ideas are good. I hope it works out for you.

these spaces are mainly for my viewing pleasure in my music room. I keep them during the day in the windows. Im guessing without a light meter, but the lights arent doing much IMO but providing some accent mostly. "Growing" and I use that term very loosely , thats done from the sun in the windows..

You guys are the growers I'm more a watcher and waterer for now ..

I started to feel sick to my stomach seeing the pic of your finger since I was imagining if it was my finger.... I would have passed out too!

That's a pretty cool system you made, although I think I'd be too lazy to carry everybody out of there for watering!
