Hi Maria,
I like that set up. But living in the dark-in-winter Northeast, I would have to put lights under each shelf for the plants below. Is the space between the posts big enough to accommodate 4' lights? Often they say "48" but that's the outside dimension. I suppose I will just have to take a tape measure with me to shop.

Hi, I really don't know the answer to your question. I'd advise you to take a measuring tape.
Speaking of which, I had to take a measuring tape with me to measure some pots that I saw down in Homestead. (they are clay bulb pans and they were dirt cheap!!) The first time I bought from that place, I could have sworn it was a 6 inch pot but when I got home it was more like a 10 inch pot. I have VERY bad spatial perception.
I was out there in the heat measuring clay pots. Gosh, I'm such the orchid geek!

i went to lowes, and ended up with plastic shelves. i liked them, but i accidentally got the wrong size. i had the tape measure in my pocket, but forgot about it!

Connie, I have the same shelving units and can fit 3 of the 2 bulb, 48 inch T12, shop lights on each shelf

I think that most people, who use a similar set-up, only use two sets of shop lights.
