I'm curious if anybody's is starting to spike too. I have one that is maybe old enough to bloom this year but not seeing any sign of a spike yet. Mine is growing in a fairly cool greenhouse (65F day and 55F night) under T5 and T12 combo. It grows fairly well and gets quite a bit warmer temps in the summer. I have mine in medium bark and it has good roots.

Mine bloomed last spring. I think it might be confused now because of the warm weather this fall. It just grew a large number of new roots all of a sudden. I don't think it's supposed to be growing right now. Gage, they are very suseptible to fungus. I had one a couple of years ago in a pot that the psuedobulbs rotted. This one is in a basket so it stays much drier. It made it through the wet summer with no problems.

Ah very good to know. That may just push me to mount mine on some tree fern.

That's probably a good idea. William Cullina in 'Understanding orchids' recommends mounting encyclias or very small clay pots with a medium that dries out quickly. The local expert on encylias is Ruben Sauleda who owns 'Ruben in Orchids' in Homestead.

Mine usually blooms in April or May so it is early yet to see any spikes
