My daughter is sick and home from school today. I am pretty bored. When i went out to water the greenhouse I took a few new photos.
This is the kind of thing I like to do.
This is a large Philodendron ilsmanii variegated. Its about 4 ft up the totem (its a 12 ft totem and I expect it to get to the top and come back down within a year). It has a spread of about 6 ft and the individual leaves are about 18" long. I know its hard to see because it isn't in bloom, but RIGHT THERE in the center where the Philo ends, there is also a cattleya orchid mounted to the totem. Once the Philo climbs another 2 ft, I will put another orchid on, then 2 feet of philo, and another orchid and so on and so on.

This is a Dendrochilum cobbiatum I have had for about 2 years. Its currently in bloom, I know its a little hard to see, but it has 9 spikes radiating out
The orchid below it, whose tops you can just see, is a big mounted Oncidium and if you look carefully you can see 3 spikes (about 3 ft long each) coming up from it

This is my King of Spades Philodendron. It grows right next to another 12 ft totem that has about a 7-8 ft terete vanda mounted to it, but it didn't really get into the photo very well. In addition to the Vanda are a few dends and other small orchids on the same totem

and this is a wide shot of a few of the large vandaceous up in the attic. The one in the corner is an Aerides mounted to driftwood, there are also several B. nodosa on the same mount. I think there is a closeup of this in my gallery. The others are large vandas, the biggest one, the pink one in bloom (Highland Treasure) has an overall length with roots of about 8 feet. There is another large one beside it that's about 5-6 ft, and at the bottom a basket of "Yellow Bird" that blooms almost continuously. Its hard to get shots of individual things sometimes because the entire area of the greenhouse floor is planted, with 3 small paths that run through it. SOmetimes the right vantage point is hard to find
Oops no, it isn...that's a barecane dend just popping out into bloom! Sorry, hafta go back and locate the Vanda photo!
