Ooh, what pretty orchids you have, Kiki! Very nice!
Question: I was wondering what the plant in your 3rd picture is. I wish I had one...it's cool. If you don't mind, will you please let me know and what it's growing conditions are?
Again...I love your pretty blooms.....nice growing area, as well.
Vicki

Here are some of my chids.
Now this last one is my wonder child. It's my phrag nitidissimum that I bought in 2007 and she my newest darling! I feel like handing out cigars!

Vicki that is Maxillaria variabilis 'Grace.' It's one of my favorites! It's suppose to have a light fragrance, but I have yet to detect it. I keep it moist, in sphag. moss, and it likes good air movement and medium to bright light. (Good candidate for mounting, if you'd like). They also like it a little cool at night, I find. Lately it's been more in bloom than out of bloom. They call it variabilis because the color in this species can vary from yellow to a deep magenta-purple. That one is about 2 years old, so they don't get awfully big very fast.
Thanks for the compliment.

Thanks Terri! I have a few more interesting and unusual things that are not yet blooming!
Do you suppose they make us wait on purpose???? I think God wanted to teach us patience so he created orchids.

Thanks for letting me know, Kiki. I love it and I want it. lol I quickly looked at Oak Hill and Andy's last night and couldn't find it, but I'm gonna search more later today (unless you already know where I can get one).
Thanks also for the culture conditions it needs. Let's just hope I get it so I can care for it.
Thanks again,
Vicki

Nice job Kiki!!! I think you have excellent growing skills - and besides, growing plants is very theraputic!! I think I have a little SAD too (seasonal affective disorder) and I am ALWAYS making sure I get plenty of light in my living spaces, sometimes to the point that it drives my husband nuts and says he feels like he's living in a greenhouse!! LOL

Vicki, I got mine at Botanica LTD. I don't hear too much about that vendor here on OB. My Max came in perfect condition. I ordered another plant that died on me in about a year. But I chalked it up to inexperience. It was a seedling, and I didn't understand how small and young it would arrive. I didn't know about seedlings, NBS, and BS. We learn by our mistakes. The last time I looked, they still had the Max v. Hope that helps.
