hmmm....a couple years ago I had a setup just like that. Then I picked up a few more shelves. Now they fill an entire room. Then I told Sue I wasn't going to get over 250 plants. Now Im over 350. SOMEONE! Stop the Madness!!!! Im sure you'll fill your shelving units up long before spring arrives! Nice job!

Yeah, "stop the madness!" Last year, this time, I had 6 orchids - now I have over 300 and am bidding on more. That's why I had to build a greenhouse (and will have to build on next spring) - not to mention the two racks in the house.

Bet that beautiful rack setup is filled before spring (oh, and take photos when it is! )

Great setup!

Looks just like my setup. It's very handy! I had to take one shelf out for taller and spiking plants so keep that in mind for when things start blooming. I do an annual shuffle and move all the stuff will have tall spikes to the bottom shelf where there's more room. If I could stick to all minis or at least compacts I could put my other shelf back in.

Hi! I am still using this setup. I've experimented with other things, but this seems to work best for the space which has only two north-facing windows. Not exactly "controlled conditions," but I have still had pretty good luck with growing and blooming just about everything I've tried.

Here's a fairly recent pic. The shelves are almost all full, and I'm still buying plants. Ugh.

Where did you find the 6 tiered shelves?? I could only find the 5 tiered at LOWE's. It should work anyways though.

Each shelf has a four-bulb, four-foot T5 fixture over it. I use a mix of two 3000K and two 6400K bulbs in each light. I read most of the back-and-forth threads on here about the benefits of "bloom" vs. "grow" spectrum bulbs, and decided it couldn't hurt to use both.
