Wendy, you've out done yourself. Your displays are absolutely gorgeous. The third one has my vote as well. I have thoughts running through my head and in total awww...

Yes, same reason I don't do shows in London or St. Catherines... Stupid border crossings. I've judged at the London show several years, although it tends to clash with one of our michigan shows. All those pretty plants, and I can't bring them home.

Might take you up on the display talk someday... I've only ever spoken to the London OS (twice...), but someday maybe I'll get to one of the other Canadian societies.

Cool! If you judge at London again be sure to let me know. I was thrilled to be asked to be a ribbon judge there last year. It would be great to be on a team with you so I could 'pick your brains'. I don't belong to the London society but may join this year. I am a member of SOOS, Ottawa, RBG and COOS although i may let Ottawa (too far) and COOS lapse this coming year.

Here's a pic of the display I did in September at the COOS show. It won Best Amateur and the Canadian Orchid Congress Award. The Cattleya bowringiana was also Best Cattleya in Show. This was my first attempt at a floor display. Until now I've stuck to table displays with a wall as a backdrop. It's challenging to set up a display where it's visible form all angles....but I had fun!

My favorites are the third (with vanda) and the last one (with cattleya). Well done!

I totally agree with Rob.
I am just learning the design aspect and am on the New Hampshire society's team so I would also like to hear more about this from you pros. Wendy, what sorts of things do you collect for your display toolbox?

While our display a few weeks ago was nice, I thought it was too crowded with large specimen plants. It ended up being overwhelming. I would have been happier with a smaller display.

Heather would you like me to post just what I have in my bag or would you like a general over view of what I take (including plants etc) to set up a display and basics on how to set it up? I'll try and post what you want sometime tomorrow.
