Wow, that truly is impressive. What do you have in your clay pots for medium? I wish I could do that for mine, but unfortunately, Maine weather isn't anything like yours. Very nice display!

Hi, I have very little, light sphag in the clay pots with Catts, and Dendo's, not packed heavy at all.

I've changed out and starting using sphag for every chid I have, and my God- What a change!! Roots, Roots, and more Beautiful Roots come out!! And new growths too!! I had all my chids in everything else, and it seems as thougth they All LOVE sphag!!

Default TOLUMNIAS??

Thanks for all the Kudo's from ya all!!

But I got question for you's; Some of you mentions my "tolumnias". I have to say that they are tagged/named from a Pro Orchid seller here in my local area, and he's got them All tamed as "Onci's".

I was confused as all heck, because my onci's don't look like what I brought home from that man a couple of weeks ago, calling them all onci's too!

I have some other tolumnia's from another Pro chid seller, and they look totally different from my onci's.

And the new one's labeled saying Onci's look like the other one's I 'trust' that are truly are tolumnia's!

So I guess I have a few new tolumnia's then huh?? I thought they must be, because of the leaves. But now that you all are saying, just by seeing my pics. I guess I do have a few new tolumnia's!! That's great, cause I love them little fella's!!

Just curious, Do you al think they are "tolumnias", not Onci's as they were tagged/named from the Pro orchid grower I bought them from?

I just love the trellis idea so much I went out and copied you. I have an existing trellis with Clementis on it so I utilized the other side for all my Onc's. Not as pretty as yours but I think the plants are gong to like it. I am going to change my Catt's over to Spagh and put them out also.
Thanks for the wonderful idea.
Kiki-do........sure you couldn't do something like that for the summer months?
Al

I know this post is a little old but I wondering if your husband had any plans or advice for someone attempting to make a similar setup. I think yours is great and I have finally convinced my b/f to build me something after my bench rotted out a couple weeks ago. Now everything is on cedar boards propped above the ground using pots, bricks, all sorts of unattractive things Anyway, I love the look of yours, live in Central Fl too, and grow outdoors so it would probably work great for me. Can you offer any advice,or can he? Thanks!

Just for you info, We put Blinds up too for protecting them from the Sun after about 4:00 when she's hitting them. The second blind is up too. They work awesome!

Hi Kiki-do!

I changed all of my clay pots that had sphag, to LAVA ROCK! And man oh man do my chids love it!! Their roots are growing allllll over the place now!!! I chose lava because of being in the rain nearly every day. They are in Heaven

Hi Al, I tried the sphag thing for the outside chids, and they never ever dried with all the FL rain we get. So I recently changed every pot outside to LAVA rock, and they are lovin' it!! Roots all over the place!!
They get rain/water daily, so that's why the sphag never dried out!

I hope yours are doing great!!
