SG- i think you are correct, you always have the trade winds. i grow it sheltered in my patio. I know it would like a lot more light but it is a balance with the heat. it is 10 degrees cooler in the patio than the yard at least in the summer. I use an inorganic mix with a lot of coir added and i try to water it daily if it isnt rainy

Wow, Catasetum buds so soon! And what is #2? Looks like Den anosmum on steroids, or is that the camera angle?

I feel like my catasetums are completely indifferent of all the reading and cultural notes on them.....i have two others with less developed spikes and a few still dormant..... why dont they listen!!!!
it is a strange anosmum....i have a few of that species and this is the smallest plant and the least vigorous and has the fewest buds BUT they are massive. I was wondering if it was some 4n type thing but i am pretty ignorant about all that HAHAHA

Orchids don't read the books. The only thing they read is the calendar, to determine when there is a show or meeting coming up, so they can finish blooming just before or reach full glory the week after.
