I grow it quite bright - filtered sun. Both parents are really, IMHO, much closer to Vanda than Phalaenopsis no matter what the DNA says it should be named. It looks like a Vanda, grows like a Vanda...qwack qwack...

I did a little search and found 3 Chiloschista species in Myanmar:

C. lunifera (color seems way off)
C. parishii
C. usneoides

I tried searching for pictures of the latter two species but they are all so different/variable...

I guess those are some options we've got assuming the location is correct.

Yup!
Mine is in a small plastic mesh hanging pot (zero media) and hangs in the misters with the vandaceous plants under 60% shadecloth.

Neophyte- thanks, that is great info- i have had and killed several usneoides and that is what i think it is...smaller than the others and slightly greener


KG and Roberta- given the growth structure looking more like a phal than a vanda, should i invert it like my other Phals to avoid crown rot or leave it vertical like the vandas?

As you can tell in my pic, mine is straight up. Where you are more inland you probably don't get the nearly constant wind that I do though and that's a big "quick drying" influence in my mind. Maybe try it upside down or sideways?

Mine ("Phal" Little One) is straight up in a basket. I happen to have both parents growing for me too... Hygrochilus parishii (Phal hygrochila) is a rather large plant, totally looks like a Vanda and grows accordingly in a basket, and Sedirea (Phal) japonica is mounted (vertically, new growth upward mostly) ... that's the parent that brings the size down. (Sedirea is Aerides backwards... closely related) So name notwithstanding, what works for Vandas should work for Little One, just a little shadier than the big Vandas maybe.
