I find that phals in our environment hate medium. I grow them a few ways but he happiest is mounted on wood in the shade.
Now, many are hybrids so they will do whatever but I have 10~ species as well and they also like it. I water them in the morning if it is not a rainy day.

Slow and steady. She pauses in winter so I just noticed the first new green tips on the roots.
I am going to take your advice and convert the mount into a wet mount. I’m going to wrap it in Rockwell cubes and maybe she will respond to the extra available moisture. Up to now she has received normal phal treatment so a little special care is well deserved

Oh my. Please don't kill it, or I'll be ever more sad than you, and feel responsible for jinxing your plant
Maybe Camille can chime in, she has much more experience with gigantea.

I especially love that Epi. nocturnum. And the bird 'way up in the top of that bottlebrush tree... do you know what it might be? I can't zoom in enough to tell...

Absolutely lovely and jealous of climate, as always. Keep sharing... I get a real vicarious thrill.
