Alas, these just don't stay at their best very long. Those delicate segments seem to dry out and give up quickly, no matter what you do or don't do. Bulb. medusae is one that you just have to enjoy "in the moment" ...A good reason to look at your plants every day so you don't miss the show. Now, consider that Hab. medusa when you can find one... those last a couple of weeks or more and may open sequentially so they can stay in bloom for quite awhile. Probably in the late summer (vendors don't rush to sell what looks like an empty pot this time of year)

this wall of my lath house is five or six rescue vandas i found on the floor of a dilapidated shade house and basically just used their old roots to tie them on

I have been decent about watering them but it has been dry here so they have been a bit slow (or perhaps in really bad shape) but now....

The chiloschista is new to me, so thanks for posting (yes, it looks like you spelled it wrong, google didn't like your spelling). Leafless orchid, count me in. Do the roots take full Florida sun or can they get burnt with direct sun? Vanda roots look good! Mine did the same once I started using Kelpmax.

i have not tried- right now it is at about 35% light (normal screen is about 10% and i have a privacy shade that is about 50-55%) and that is in a patio where is it only getting east and south exposure.

I am thinking about making a small frame to make a sunshade for the area OUTSIDE of my patio to get a growing area with only about 35% shading.

I know these need light and i think that dappled full sun, like under a mango tree, or really bright shade would be the sweet spot but i confess i am still dialing it in

Thanks. Did some quick research and found "the plant must be protected from direct sunlight" so that seems like a pretty firm negative for direct sunlight. Next question(s). Did you get it recently from any shows this year and do you remember the vendor you got it from?

i purchased it within the last year...i will go back to my "notes" and see what i can find.....

I am afraid i might only get to, it was the booth next to Andy's Orchids, I remember that much and i don't think they were at Ft Lauderdale so that means it was Miami.
