One more question; when you order from US you will need some sort of certificate from nursery to import them to UK,right? How does it work? as i am tempted to order from other parts of the world as well but this put me off a bit, all the paperwork and customs and stuff....

I'm put off with that too... though I go through the hoops with phytosanitary certificates for daylilies from the US, I've not yet dealt with orchids and CITES certificates.
I'm picking my plants up at the Tatton Park show in early June. So, technically, I'm not importing them, I'm buying them after they have been imported. They would have to have all the CITES and phyto documentation to bring plants to the show, so pre-ordering so that they can include plants that you want is great!!

That's absolutely brilliant idea! Might try similar stunt next year and order masdys from Ecuador and have them delivered to London orchid show. Yippie! (Only 11 month to go!! )
Admire you for waiting though!!

Patience is a virtue I normally don't possess!! But, these are special plants worth waiting for - besides, I get to live vicariously through everyone else here getting their new plants in the mean while!

So I have decided to go with Oak Hill for the project orchids. I have never ordered orchids off the internet so I have a silly question. I was hoping that they might be able to bring my plants to the Ann Arbor show next weekend. Would it be best to call them to order my plants and make this request? Or do you think they would prefer things being done through their website? Sorry, this seems so silly to me, but I don't know what the correct protocol and etiquette is in this situation. Thanks guys!

I was just wondering if we have a special place to post pics and comments about the new project pick. I just got my Sedirea japonica today and when I get her rested up from her trip, I would like to introduce her to you all. I imagine everyone will be doing the same? Where will we post our conversations of this new project?
Also, is it too late for people to sign up for the project?
Thanks!

Erin, Sorry for not replying sooner... but I'm not really sure what would be easiest for Oak Hill as I've never ordered from them (being in the UK!). However, if it were me, I would just telephone them and ask. If it is somehow easier for them to process via the web, then I'm sure they'd be happy to tell you that. If not, you've got them on the phone and you can place your order!

Here you go, kiki

Now that our plants are starting to arrive, I'd say this project is no longer open to newcomers...
that being said, you know we have no self-control and another project will pop up before long
