Seeing as it's more of a "cool-growing" variety, I should be more scared than you ...but if Harvey wins, I'll have to make some adjustments in what my original plans for him were.
I just thought it was so nice of Liese to give us the specific information on the particular plants Oak Hill has in stock right now.

I am secretly hoping dear dearei wins as well...I almost voted for it....it is so cool and unsual! If we end up having a silent vote due to a tie, that is what I will vote for...lol.

I agree, Sue. It really says something about Oak Hill to be upfront and honest like that! Having worked in customer support for a number of years, though, I know how important it is to set the right expectations - and that is just what she's done (and very honestly). If I were in the US, I would certainly be happy to order plants from them!

Three more votes for dearei and we'll have a 3 way tie!!!

What a bummer about Harvey! I tried looking up some info on him before I voted but didn't find much. I voted for a den because I don't have much experience with them and could use the support of all of you. Now I'm scared it'll win and I'll kill it! Yikes! The bulbo was my second fav.

No matter who wins, I plan to get a Harvey and experiment. I may feel challenged but I love the colors, and what a frilly lip!

It's interesting to see the very wide range of different temp information from a variety of sources. Makes you wonder who's right. As an example Den. aggregatum is listed in OrchidWiz & Jay's as a warm/hot grower, while Steven Frowine's book Miniature Orchids lists it as intermediate. I have one that I'm growing intermediate and I think I might actually be getting a spike, not sure it's still in the "nubbin" stage. If Harvey really is a cool grower should we reconsider it? I could easily shift my vote to Masdevallia infracta. I know that makes more work for you Sue, but I think it's better to have a successful project.

Yeah, me too. I'll also get a S. japonica too.
The Oak Hill people sound great. I love it when nurseries are honest! I like the challenges too. I may just go ahead and place an order from them, then hope harvey wins .
In science, even failure is a success. If we get something and it doesn't work out, than we learn something about our limitations in our respective areas. No matter what we pick, some of us will learn this tough lesson.
