Sue et al: here are some notes from Flora's Orchids & good old Wikipedia on some of these...I'll add my notes in italics in another color...

I was trying not to list species that we haven't used yet, and I had to leave at some point to get chinese food, since I hadn't eaten all day, so... if I'm wrong, I'm sorry .

I figure SOME of these should put us over 20

Cattleya skinneri: intermediate to hot growing (but it says intermediate!), 5.5inches long, fragrant, dry winter rest
20"

Dendrobium amethystoglossum: intermediate, winter rest, fragrant..... I can't figure out how tall it is. Kinda tired
18-39"

Anguloa uniflora: Bizarrare! intermediate, fragrant, grows to a max of 12"
IOSPE PHOTOS
Has possibilities...what do you all think? Flora says this is a biggie; 16-24" rhizome spread, 16-20" in height. Wikipedia further notes that Anguloa often have leaves in excess of 1 meter! in length...

Bifrenaria tyrianthina: Also kind of weird, intermediate, fragrant, short
20"

Angraecum didieri: mini, intermediate, fragrant, HUGE flower for plant size
*trying to avoid previously used genus

Angraecum elephantinum: mini to small sized, intermediate, winter bloomers
*trying to avoid previously used genus

Bulbophyllum ambrosia: small, cool to hot, fragrant, also called "The Sweet-Smelling Bulbophyllum"!
IOSPE PHOTOS
Love this one! What do the rest of you think?

Bulbophyllum sumatranum: intermediate, small, shaded
IOSPE PHOTOS
This one works too...haven't read anything about "fragrance"

Dendrobium tortile: hot to cool, fragrant, small to medium sized, winter rest
IOSPE PHOTOS
The word "medium" in the size description makes me wonder...I had to remove 2 from our list that said medium and were both rather tall. Can anybody find actual size info?
Flora puts this one in the 16" and taller range

Dendrobium loddigesii: intermediate, mini, fragrant
IOSPE PHOTOS
This one is a great choice...it can get very large if you let it ramble or you can keep it trimmed as needed. Continuously puts out keikis, which can be removed OR turn them back towards the mount (tree-fern for mine) and let it be happy

Dendrobium rigidum: mini, intermediate (Andy's says so!) fragrant
WARM-HOT
*already on our "no good" list...Orchidwiz quotes temps at 88 to 90 day and 75 night. Those are tough numbers for some of our members to meet.

Dendrobium tetragonum: intermediate, fragrant, might be too tall, hard to say
IOSPE PHOTOS
Great plant, I have two but would get another

Dendrochilum uncatum: small, hot to cool, fragrant
No Orchidwiz info available
Marni Turkel has a pic of this on her page Dendrochilum uncatum it's a beauty, but note that it needs night temps between 52F - 60F for winter...other than that it looks good to me!

Dracula platycrater: small, intermediate .....pointy
Med-large plant with spikes up to 20"

Epidendrum nocturnum: intermediate, fragrant, might be too tall
39"

Gongora armeniaca: intermediate, small, fragrant
IOSPE PHOTOS
It works, but needs to grow downwards...what do you all think?

Sigmatostalix graminea: mini, intermediate, only one hit in europe :P
IOSPE PHOTOS
This one's good

Sigmatostalix picta: hot to cool, mini
IOSPE PHOTOS
This one's good

Niki, you did a great job on the list. I've added some further info under each one.

Thank you
Just my two cents...
Adam

Re Gongora armeniaca: I don't feel that a plant that has to grow out the bottom is suitable for a project plant. I, for one, don't have an appropriate place for a hanging basket!

Camille, I will make the 2:00pm chat if you will be there. Who else can make it in the afternoon, US time?
I might not be home at that time. I'm spending the day in Amsterdam (getting ready to leave as we speak) so it depends at what time I get a train to go back home.
Whenever I get home I'll check the chat. I'll be on at the 'middle of the night' chat since with the DST difference it'll only be 1am!

Thank you
here is some info about Dendrochillum uncatum Dendrochilum uncatum in Digital Flora of Taiwan @ efloras.org

10 - 22 cm tall!

Dendrochillum are nice plants. I have two (magnum and glumaceum) but apparently can be very very "sensible" to re-potting. I changed my two plants last year and am still waiting for them to bloom. They seem to like S/H. both are growing like crazy, but no flowers so far...

Okay, answering all of the above in one post:

Adam, thank you for adding the information I was unable to find. I'll add the Anguloa uniflora and the Dendrobium tortile to the "no good for our project" section of the list.

I'm usually concerned with cool night temps but what you wrote about the Dendrochilum uncatum is something I can do here...what do the rest of you think about adding it to the list?

Shirley, I agree...it will be hard for many of our members to accomplish that...it's being moved to the "no good for our project" section of the list too.

Okie-dokie Camille...see you later tonight

Ramon...thanks for the Dendrochilum uncatum information ...

enjoy the wedding

Thanks for letting us know, cowboy...we'll wait for either an answer from you or to my email.
I ran up to the show this morning to talk to Jim about the Comparettia. I guess he slipped on the ice yesterday and got a nasty thump on the head and wasnt in so i talked to one of the employees and he was going to try to remember to take a look when he gets back to the greenhouse tonight and give me a shout. So we're not really any further on this one than we were. I felt terrible about wasting all that gas running up there so to justify it I picked up a Brassavola jimminey cricket. It was just calling my name. I think I need an intervention......Oh and its in bud...pics to come
